Adoption Application

Thank you so much for your application. to adopt! We process applications as quickly as possible in the order in which they are received. The average wait time is 4-7 days.

Please DO NOT follow up via email or phone as that slows down the process for everyone unless you need to update or change anything on your application or want to withdraw it -- if so, please email adoptions@catcafebk.com

Once your application is approved, we will connect you to foster families for virtual meetings. Our fosters are great at introducing the cats over video and answering any questions you might have. We are not recommending in person visits at this time. To meet cats at the cafe, make a reservation to visit them during our open hours: www.catcafebk.com/visit

Please ask your references to look for an email from adoptions@bbawc.org -- the faster they respond, the faster we can approve you for adoption. If you need to update your references or their contact information, please email adoptions@bbawc.org

We DO NOT adopt out single kittens and any applications for a single kitten will be ignored.

We look forward to moving forward with your application and will be getting in touch with you as soon as we can!

It is crucial that everyone in your household is on board with adopting, but for this part of the application process, we are only asking about adults who will be serving as an active and responsible adoption. While we encourage co-parenting, unless you are legally entangled, just one of you will sign the adoption agreement as the official adopter.

Are you applying as a household? Please put all applicant names down.

Our adoption process moves very quickly, please only apply NOW if you are ready to adopt NOW. Otherwise, please apply closer to the date you are ready to move forward?

Since our adoption process moves quickly, please wait to apply until you are ready to adopt.

Please note that we do not adopt out single kittens unless you have an age-approriate feline at home.

Looking Forward...

We are not passing any judgment! Just want you to think ahead.
No one wants to think about this, but it's important that there is a plan in place.

References

References are now a much bigger part of our application process than before and we really want to hear about you as a person. These references do not need to be work related (although they can be) -- friends, former roommates, neighbors are all great. References should NOT be family members, current roommates or significant others (please do not list your mother! Please include 3 people and their email addresses UNLESS they really don't email (which is totally fine, some folks don't) -- emailing helps us process applications faster. Please do not put N/A or leave a reference blank, instead wait a little longer to submit your application and think about someone else who can tell us about how great you are.

If you are unable to provide 3 references with emails, please email adoptions@bbawc.org and we will call you references -- don't worry!

STOP! Please check your references and confirm that they are NOT RELATED TO OR DATING YOU. Are there any typos in their email addresses? Good to go? Let them know that we will be reaching out soon and the sooner they respond, the sooner you can adopt.

And Finally...

Note: We require an adoption donation to contribute to the care of future rescues. Your donation is not a fee as it does not cover the costs associated with rescuing each cat, but instead contributes to our ability to continue our rescue work.
